She said the MoU is proof of a strong commitment to work together towards the development of the Chinese and the global accountancy profession, with the organisation hoping the agreement to brings about the maintenance of high professional, technical and ethical standards in China.

Brand says: "ACCA is very honoured to be involved in contributing to the development of the finance profession in China. I firmly believe that this signing of a memorandum of understanding will help us both to accelerate the process of internationalisation."

Brand also congratulated China's vice minister Dr Wang Jun and CICPA secretary general Chen Yugui for their significant progress made in international convergence of accounting and auditing standards.

"You have forged a path along the road to internationalise the profession - and that has to be commended."
